Most weeks, Mattaya is allowed to choose a treat at the grocery store. And it can be anything within reason (no dog food, and generally nothing over $5...and she has to be willing for the family to enjoy it all together). This particular week, she chose some vanilla caramel crunch ice cream bars...
She was quite pleased with her selection.
As were we all! Certain family members tend to forget that Makenna is no longer a baby. She is very well aware of what's going on and definitely doesn't want to miss out on anything. Makenna reached for a bite of Daddy's ice cream bar. I offered to get her one for herself, and Matt was pretty sure that would be a waste of an ice cream bar...
After her second LARGE bite from HIS ice cream bar, Matt went to retrieve another ice cream bar. ;)
And none of it was wasted. :)
She loves to fill the bucket. Has no idea what to do with it once it's full. But she loves to fill it. :)
Matt decorated my birthday cake this year.
Makenna loves to be included but doesn't love to get her hands messy. Using a paintbrush this time was oh-so-fun.
I don't remember what the yellow blob was, but the blue blob was Madame Blueberry. And the green blob started out as Larry the Cucumber but was later grouped with the red and purple blobs to make the "trinity of God". (Came up with that all on her own. She sure makes me smile.)
And in the VERY end, the masterpiece was called The Storm.
And it happened that while Mattaya was consuming birthday cake that she came to be wearing a 'stache. She requested permission to give Daddy a mustache and was tickled pink when he let her.
Mattaya is such a good little mother to George. But she often quickly corrects me to say that she is George's "fahvuh" (which is "father"...because the man with the yellow hat certainly couldn't be anyone's MOTHER, and Mattaya is the man with the yellow hat...follow?).
Every morning before breakfast, Mattaya gets George's breakfast ready.
And they play ring around the rosie together.
It's been a LOOOOOOONG time since we've had popsicles. Makenna was a little surprised to rediscover how cold they are!
The cold makes them cringe.
Trying to reach Mom's fresh potato rolls. So yummy!
Sidenote: When Mattaya is excited about a food, she crouches down then jumps up and yells, "YUMMY!". Little Miss Kenna is forever learning from big sister and now crouches down (doesn't quite know how to jump yet) and yells/screams "NOMMY!" Pretty sure she has no idea what she's doing, but she's definitely proud to be copying Mattaya. :)
EVERY morning before breakfast...
Mattaya still loves to be George's doctor, and now Makenna is getting in on some of the action.
Mattaya is quite imaginative, and we so appreciate that about her. We didn't have enough sunglasses for George this particular day, so she substituted a rag doll to be his sunglasses. She makes me smile. :)
And so does this little cutie who does a great job leaving her sunglasses on!
(Yes, she's still in pajamas. On Sundays when Matt plays drums, Makenna goes from the crib to the van and eats breakfast at church since we have to be there so early.)
Dressed and ready to sing.
(Mattaya has been in this camera funk lately where she definitely doesn't want to smile for the camera and likely won't even look at it. Punk.)
One day she took an interest in the 24-piece puzzles I bought when I was working at the school. First choice: Teen Titans. *sigh*
(second one was Elmo, but I didn't get a picture of it)
Can you say "hammy"? ;)
Mmmm, Smoothie!
Daddy must have thought so, too. :)
It's funny to me when I come to upload pictures and find random food pics.
Mattaya the Musical Multitasker
guitar, djembe, and jingle stick
Making a phone call on the computer mouse. :)
And then there was Pooh!
She still needs some help with these, but she stays really focused and finishes them at least.
"I see you!"
Makenna has never really said "peekaboo"; it's always been "I see you". She loves to look through things and say it over and over and over...
And now she's so proud to sit on the potty! No, I am absolutely not in the process of training her. It's very much a monkey-see-monkey-do situation. Big sister does it, so little sister must try it. She marches in, stands on the stool and pulls at her pants saying "Go boo." So we let her sit.
And she tries really hard to do whatever it is that people do on the toilet. (Pretty sure she has not a clue.)
And then promptly requests a treat!
(Can you say "working the system"?)
Busted!
Yep, I caught her in an under-bed storage container, romping around and emptying all stored blankets and towels.
She had a GREAT time...
:)
